PAN AM MUSEUM FOUNDATION CELEBRATES LEGO® TRIBUTE TO THE GOLDEN AGE OF AVIATION

New 1,903-Piece LEGO Icons Douglas DC-3 Pan Am Airliner Set
Honors the Airline That Shaped Commercial Flight

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Pan Am Museum Foundation today celebrated the announcement of the LEGO® Icons Douglas DC-3 Pan Am Airliner (Set No. 11378), a stunning 1,903-piece (1903 recalls the year of the Wright brothers’ first flight) collectible model honoring one of the most iconic aircraft in the history of commercial aviation – and the legendary airline that helped bring it to the world.

Announced by the LEGO Group on March 17, 2026, the set goes on sale April 1, 2026, for LEGO Insiders members, with general public availability beginning April 4, 2026. It is priced at $219.99 and available on the LEGO website and LEGO retail stores worldwide.

“Pan Am was more than an airline – it was America’s ambassador to the world,” said Linda Freire, Board Chair of the Pan Am Museum Foundation. “What moves me deeply is that more than three decades after Pan Am’s final flight, the blue globe and the name still stir something profound in people from every corner of the earth. This LEGO set is a testament to that enduring legacy. Pan Am history, from its first mail flight out of Key West in 1927 to its last flight in 1991, still matters. It still inspires. And it still belongs to the world.”

The Douglas DC-3 stands as one of the defining aircraft of the pre and post war periods, and no airline was more closely identified with its rise than Pan American World Airways. The airline had over 90 Douglas DC-3 aircraft between 1937 and 1966. From the moment Pan Am launched the first scheduled transatlantic passenger service in 1939 to its pioneering routes across the Pacific and Latin America years earlier, the airline did not simply participate in the development of commercial aviation, it invented it. Founded in 1927 and operating for 64 years until its closure in 1991, Pan Am opened the skies to generations of travelers, diplomats, military personnel, and dreamers who believed the world was within reach.

The LEGO Icons set captures the DC-3’s unmistakable twin-engine silhouette with remarkable fidelity. The model features an authentically detailed cockpit and passenger cabin complete with aisle seating, retractable landing gear operated by a working dial, and four exclusive minifigures – a pilot and three flight attendants – all dressed in historically inspired Pan Am uniforms. The completed aircraft mounts on a display stand with an information plaque, alongside a dedicated Pan Am-branded minifigure display, making it a centerpiece-worthy addition to any collection. The model measures over 9.5 inches high, 20 inches long, and 30 inches wide.
